I may be premature here, but my mother has an ulcer that does not improve with intensive antibiotic therapy. She was referred to a specialist, but I wonder whether it could be something much more serious cases, numerous cancer in my family, and I am a little paranoid.

You can, but your doctor may be ruled out.
Do you already have an endoscopy (a procedure in which a device is set telescope through the mouth into the stomach)? If so, have a simple biopsy of the ulcer, proved that it is not cancer.

Stomach ulcers are a routine biopsy to exclude cancer. I assume that his mother had an endoscopy, and when she did a biopsy of the ulcer was probably made. Do I have shown that cancer or not. If she has not an endoscopy one, so they should have. You need to see a gastroenterologist.
